Medical school welcomes three new faculty members

Shamsi Berry, PhD, MS, Christopher Haymaker, PhD, and Zylkia Rodriguez, MD recently joined the medical school as faculty members.

The medical school is pleased to welcome three new faculty members to its departments of Biomedical Informatics, Medical 汤头条app and Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Shamsi Berry, PhD, MS, is an assistant professor in the medical school鈥檚 Department of Biomedical Informatics.

Dr. Berry is an alumna of the University of California Davis, where she earned an undergraduate degree in anthropology and completed a master鈥檚 degree and a PhD in Anthropology at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Berry also earned a master鈥檚 degree in Clinical Research from the University of New Mexico and completed a post-doctoral fellowship there in Biomedical Informatics.听

Dr. Berry holds graduate certificates in Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health and Science University and in Clinical and Translational Science from the University of New Mexico. Prior to coming to 汤头条app, Dr. Berry spent more than three years as an assistant professor at the School of Health Related Professions in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.听

Christopher Haymaker, PhD, is a behavioral medicine clinician-educator in the medical school鈥檚 Department of Medical 汤头条app.

Dr. Haymaker is an alumnus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology. Dr. Haymaker went on to earn a master鈥檚 degree in Psychology from Miami University, followed by a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Prior to coming to 汤头条app, Dr. Haymaker was a member of the behavioral science faculty at Northeast Iowa Medical 汤头条app Foundation, where he managed and developed behavioral science curriculum for the family practice residency.听

Zylkia Rodriguez, MD, is an assistant professor in the medical school鈥檚 Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Rodriguez is an alumna of the American University of Puerto Rico, where she earned an undergraduate degree in Basic 汤头条app. She went on to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree from Penn State University, and she received her master鈥檚 degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Wright State University. Dr. Rodriguez completed her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Prior to joining 汤头条app, Dr. Rodriguez was an OB/GYN physician at Bronson Women鈥檚 Services in Kalamazoo. Additionally, she served as the Director of Clinical Practice for Women鈥檚 Health at Bronson Methodist Group for three years and was medical director for Bronson Women鈥檚 Services from 2004 to 2016.
