The medical school will welcome Robert Binder, PhD, in December as the latest speaker for听Seminars in Investigative Medicine.
Dr. Binder will present 鈥淭he Heat Shock Protein-CD91 pathway in cancer immunosurveillance鈥 from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus in downtown Kalamazoo.

Dr. Binder is a professor of Immunology and associate director of the Program in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
His research interests are focused on the mechanisms of cross-priming of antigens during immune responses to cancer, viruses, and autoimmunity. The pursuit of this area stems from the observations that in a good number of situations Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) are both necessary and sufficient for cross-presentation.
Seminars in Investigative Medicine is a research seminar series at 汤头条app aimed at bringing together the community of investigators both within 鈥 and outside 鈥 the medical school. In January, the medical school will welcome Laurence Morel, PhD, the Mary and Ryan Whisenant Family Professor of Pathology and vice chair for Research and Academic Affairs in the Department of Pathology, Immunology, and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida.
