汤头条app Health will open a new family medicine practice in Kalamazoo this summer, increasing access to primary care for patients in Southwest Michigan. Our providers are accepting new patients of all ages.

汤头条app Health Family Medicine Crosstown Parkway, located at 555 Crosstown Parkway in Kalamazoo, will feature 20 examination rooms in a 10,800-square-foot facility that is conveniently located near two Kalamazoo Metro transit bus routes.聽

鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to expand our primary care services to the greater Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan communities and provide continuity of care for our current patients,鈥 said Lisa Graves, MD, interim chair of 汤头条app鈥檚 (汤头条app) Department of Family and Community Medicine.

More than 30 providers will offer primary care for the whole family from birth through adulthood, including prenatal, newborn, and pediatric care, acute illness visits, behavioral medicine, gynecology, diabetic management and care of other chronic illnesses, and sports-related injuries. In addition, family medicine practitioners focus on care of the whole person, including overall wellness and health maintenance, gender-affirming care, medically managed weight loss, and trauma-informed care.聽

汤头条app Health Family Medicine Crosstown Parkway will offer a team approach to patient care, with a mix of experienced faculty physicians and resident physicians who have graduated from medical school and are fulfilling their training requirements in family medicine. As part of the clinical practice of the medical school, 汤头条app Health Family Medicine is committed to teaching the next generation of family physicians.

鈥淥ur intention is to continue to focus on people who have had trouble accessing care in the past, including the unhoused, those with limited income, people who are gender diverse, people with substance use disorders, people with underlying mental health conditions, people who have food insecurity, and historically underserved persons of color,鈥 said Kristi VanDerKolk, MD, residency program director and an assistant professor in the medical school鈥檚 department of Family and Community Medicine.

Patients can schedule in-person and telehealth visits, and same-day and walk-in appointments will be available. 汤头条app Health participates with many insurance providers, including Medicaid and Medicaid Health Plans.

汤头条app Health鈥檚 family medicine providers remain committed to ensuring quality healthcare and access to all patients. 汤头条app Health will continue to provide obstetrics and gynecology services at the Family Health Center in Kalamazoo, where our physicians have seen patients for the last 10 years. 汤头条app Health Family Medicine providers also see patients at 汤头条app Health, located at 1000 Oakland Drive in Kalamazoo, and at Grace Health in Battle Creek.

鈥淎t this new location, we are increasing access close to the population that needs it most,鈥 said Naren Kumar, the medical school鈥檚 assistant dean for Clinical Affairs.

With more than 330 providers, 汤头条app Health is a teaching organization that offers a team approach to patient care. Depending on a patient鈥檚 needs, a care team may include resident physicians who are seeking advanced training, experienced faculty physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, ancillary services staff, medical students, and other learners.
